Sarvajanik Shree Ganeshutsav Mandal was incepted on the 41st Independence Day of India in 1988. The people in Goa have seen the various activities that this organization organizes all over the year, the highlight of it being the 9 day majestic celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi held in the Quepem Municipal Garden. It is locally titled as “Kushbancha Raja” for it is set up along the river “Kushavati”. In addition to being a Hindu festival, this event also showcases the cultural diversity of Goa by the means of live Marathi dramas, tiatrs and musical jugalbandis. This organization has been instrumental in promoting this by inviting esteemed singers like Arun Date and veteran artists like Pradeep Patwardhan to come and perform here in the past years and take the crowd on a cultural journey. Luis Bachchan and John D’Silva, the renowned tiatrists of Goa have graced the events on several occasions. It’s a 9 day gala event, an unforgettable highlight of the month of “Bhadrapada”.
For South Goa and more precisely for the “Quepemkar”, Sarvajanik Shree Ganeshutsav Mandal has been extremely influential in promoting social welfare and carrying out activities to encourage social growth. Blood donation camps, providing scholarships to deserving students and organizing regular Health Check Up camps are some of the initiatives taken up by this group over the past years and they still continue to do so. They also make yearly donations to organizations like Keshav Seva Sadhna and Lokvishwas Pratishthan which provide education and hostel facilities to economically deprived students and handicapped children respectively. This organsation has also organized Yoga Classes and Workshops in Quepem in the past years. “Bhajan Spardha” and “Fancy Dress Competitions” are a regular feature of this organization jelling the Quepem folks together throughout the year.
